Day 6

We took the beautiful Kuranda scenic train up to the cute-artsy town of Kuranda.

 Both boys LOVED being on the train.

The Kuranda railway is about 23 miles long but it took the workers over 8 years to complete it.

 They had to build over 40 bridges, 93 curves and

15 tunnels! 

 Quite a feat! Especially since it was built with only hand tools.

 While on the train ride we enjoyed some beautiful views.

The train made one stop at Barron Gorge,

 where we were able to take a family photo - yay everyone is looking at the camera!

 After the train ride we went on a 3 km jungle walk and enjoyed the  beautiful outdoors. 

The picture below pretty much sums up the walk:  Forest is finding and playing with a stick, Westly is pushing the stroller (he was adamantly against sitting), Bridger is doing his own thing, and I am taking photos.

 After our walk we toured around Kuranda and enjoyed window shopping and eating delicious food! 

We also played in this giant fig tree

At the end of our day we took the sky rail back down the mountain side... yes Forest is picking his nose in this picture. 

Although Forest looks like he is in pain in the picture below, he thought the sky rail was awesome, as did Westly.

Again we enjoyed more breath taking views

 Such a beautiful day!

Day 5 (part 2)

The Crocodile Farm

After the Cairn's Tropical Zoo we headed to Hartley's Crocodile Farm and were greeted by this beautiful fella.

 We went on a tour around the farm and saw the huge tanks full of 100 + crocodiles - yikes!

 we even got to pet a baby crocodile

 and play on one!

 Forest was chosen to be the assistant in the snake show.

 He did a great job demonstrating what to do if you are bitten by a snake.

After the demonstration Forest was asked to stand like a tree.

Before Forest realized what was on him he stood for about 3 seconds with the snake around his neck and was smiling big as can be.  Then, he looked down... you can see in the picture below how he felt about it. (After the show Forest told  us that he thought that the snake was a tire at first)

 Forest was quite the little celebrity the rest of the day.  Everyone kept coming up to him and telling him he did a great job.  He loved all the attention and soaked it all up!

 Once the snake show was complete we headed on a boat tour to spot crocodiles

 and watch them get fed.

 The sound the crocodile teeth make when they chomp is incredible!  It is so loud!  They have some of the strongest jaws in the animal kingdom.

After our boat ride we watched a very entertaining crocodile show.

 All of us were pretty enthralled.  Forest was actually totally scared for the host.  He kept saying, "I can't watch"

I do feel bad for the poor host- what a scary job.

After all the shows were complete we wondered around Hartley's, which was a really pretty zoo. 

We again got to feed more kangaroos and wallabies.

And the best part was we got to see a little joey still in his mamma's pouch!

AWESOME!
